- Easy installation of yacht glazing
- Embedded smart technologies
In yachts and boats, weight is a very important factor. Wind deflectors, cabin windows, and sunroofs form large surfaces that affect the total weight of a yacht or boat. Our yacht glazing solutions made of hard-coated Aikon® PMMA and PC sheets offer an excellent combination of lightness, durability and safety for yacht glazing. In addition, we provide smart windows embedded with shading and privacy films or info displays.
Aikon® yacht glazing solutions provide premium quality to cabin or deck windows, sunroofs, display screens, and wind deflectors. They help lighten your yacht's weight and improve energy efficiency. The density of Aikon® PMMA Hard and Aikon® PC Hard is 1,20 g/cm3 whereas the density of glass is 2,50 g/cm3. Manufacturing windows and other transparent surfaces from lighter materials significantly impacts your yacht’s total weight and performance.
Larger glazing components, including windows and portholes, play a pivotal role in yacht design. By using Aikon® polymer glazing, you open the door to designing intricate forms and larger windows that add both aesthetics and functionality. Yacht components made of Aikon® PMMA Hard or Aikon® PC Hard are easy to thermoform and CNC-machine to the desired shape.
Keeping an indoor temperature cool consumes the most energy of a yacht. Windows made of Aikon® glazing provide 5 times better insulation than glass, helping to regulate indoor temperatures. In addition, the hard coating adds a reflective surface to the glazing material to IR radiation.
It is also possible to reduce IR radiation by laminating an infrared barrier layer to yacht windows. Better insulating material added with the IR barrier reduces significantly the need for cooling. This way Aikon® glazing solutions help improve the energy efficiency of a yacht.
As a full solution partner, we ensure the high quality of yacht glazing. We are responsible for the total quality of manufactured products and use machine vision and systematic quality control tests to quarantee high quality.
Shading films, transparent displays and heated windows can be integrated into glazing solutions. With shading films, dimming features allow control how much light enters to a space. Custom shading creates a comfortable experience to use a marine vehicle. In addition, shading films allow light to be optimized by utilizing natural light for energy savings and ambiance, and shade during peak hours for cooling and solar control.
Polycarbonate or acrylic windows can be laminated with Gauzy SPD shading films, which allow the window shade to be adjusted at the touch of a button. Enjoy ocean and sky views without strong light reflection and glare in cabin, bridge, and deck windows. Laminated shading films offer dynamic shading and temperature control.
Laminating Gauzy PDLC smart film enables dynamic light control by instantly switching transparent window to opaque. The film creates complete privacy or transparency when it is needed. It is an excellent solution for indoor and outdoor glazing. Opaque smart film enables optimizing space and it can be used for projection platforms.
Transparent displays connect physical and digital to provide dynamic information of an environment or a yacht, for example. They can be laminated into glazing to turn windows into interactive displays. The display does not affect the optical properties of the window. Thus, manufacturers can build safer yachts and boats.
